About Faith Fang

My name is Faith Fang, and I am a violinist from Abilene, Texas. I am passionate about sharing my love of music with a worldwide audience. I began studying the violin at the age of five, and I have pursued it ever since. Striving for excellence in my violin performance has provided me with many opportunities to serve my community, travel the world, and build an international network of musical connections.

Throughout my musical journey, I have participated in a variety of prestigious ensembles, which include the Texas All-State Orchestra and serving as concertmaster of the Abilene Youth Orchestra and All-Region Orchestra. In addition, I have competed in a regional and state-wide level, achieving 3rd Place Winner of the Nelda Hodges Young Artist Competition and earning the Outstanding Performer Distinction twice at the Texas State Solo and Ensemble Competition.

However, the most meaningful aspect of being a violinist to me is having the ability to collaborate with a variety of individuals and share my unique musical ideas with those around me. I first realized my love of performance after joining Revolution Strings and exploring a variety of genres outside of classical music while also performing for dozens of conferences, local events, and even an international tour of Canada. Since then, my identity as a violinist has been one of versatility and continuous growth. I became active in a variety of community events through music, and I was able to use my skills in classical violin, other genres, and improvisation to expand my performing experience. In addition, I discovered a passion for teaching the violin, and I began teaching a broad range of ages.

As a music and mechanical engineering double-major at Southern Methodist University, I have studied with professors Alexander Sitkovetsky and Emanuel Borok. At SMU, I have also played in masterclasses for numerous prestigious artists, including Pinchas Zukerman and Philippe Quint. I formerly studied with Dr. Peter Isaacson. I am always seeking excellence and growth as a violinist, and my unique experiences provide me with a powerful skill set as a teacher and solo artist.
